CCTV: Caught in the Act

In this day and age, most things are either caught on CCTV or TikTok, sometimes they are caught on both.

TikTok has become a gen Z’s version of ‘You’ve Been Framed.’ But it’s good to see that as a society we still take comfort in laughing at people falling over (and not getting hurt) and watching what animals really get up to when they think no one is around.

The unexpected guest

A UK-based Home security company called Ring shared security footage of a group of owls perched on homeowner Lyndsay’s doorstep on their YouTube channel earlier this year.

Lyndsay explains that her security camera kept sending her notifications that ‘someone’ was at the door. Once she checked the security footage she realised the visitors were three wide-eyed birds on her doorstep at 10:30 pm.

Lyndsay said: “Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE owls. I have owl decor all over the inside of my home.

“These owls had so much personality! They were so wide-eyed peeking at the camera! One stole a bug the other had dropped and the third owl was a free spirit doing its own thing.” Lyndsay added.

When the cats are away the dogs can play:

Owners of a mischievous pooch, called Hamilton caught their dog gleefully jumping into their swimming pool whilst they went out for the day.

The footage shows the carefree pet plunging into the pool and taking a leisurely swim with toys and floaties.

Next time we head out of our house for a few hours, footage like this can reassure us that our pets are living their best lives.

Is this Dog Watching Squid Games?

Speaking of leaving our pets unsupervised, this dog took the opportunity to catch up on some T.V. whilst their owner was away.

The security camera shows the pooch, to be completely unfazed by the camera and glued to the T.V screen.

The chilled-out pet was probably grateful for some quiet time so they could settle into episode three of squid games.

The Faux Motorbike Accident

Although, Nottinghamshire Police were less impressed with a 19-year-old who faked his own motorbike accident.

The 19-year-old was taken to hospital after he told medics he could not feel his legs or the entire right side of his body.

However, the CCTV Footage captured the young lad staging the crash in Botany Avenue, Mansfield, on 1 May.

Nottinghamshire Police have given the man a fixed penalty instead of facing prosecution, but have not revealed how much he has been asked to pay.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin said: "Every hoax or inappropriate call our emergency call handlers receive has the potential to delay us from responding to genuine emergencies and put someone else's life in danger."

The image below features a timeline of what happened. Image two show the man tipping his bike over his body.
