Kickstart your career at CCTV Focus

CCTV Focus is a Birmingham-based company that supplies affordable and high-quality security packages around England. Over the past decade, we have carved a name for ourselves as reliable security installers who provide security kits for domestic and commercial sites.

CCTV Focus is a proud supporter of the Government's Kickstart Scheme.

The pandemic held collateral consequences for young people who were looking to start their careers as most industries struggled to stay afloat.

However, the Kickstart incentive aims to work with 16-24-year-olds who could face long-term unemployment. At CCTV Focus, we have worked closely with young people across Birmingham and given them valuable training in a wide range of sectors.

Our new joiners have worked closely with our social media manager, digital marketing team, engineers, sales manager, and so much more. They have picked up valuable skills like photoshop, how to talk to clients and making those all-important sales.

Over the past few months, we have watched our new joiners flourish into an army of young professionals who are ready to start their careers.

For example, Abtar Krishan, 24, is one of our kickstart joiners, and we have seen him transform into a young professional in such a short period of time.

If you asked Krishan: ‘where he sees himself in five years,' when he first joined CCTV Focus, he would’ve given you a shy shrug and mumbled ‘I'm not sure.’

At the start of his placement, Krishan’s interest in Maths landed him a role in our finance department. But after several one-to-one sessions with a senior member of staff and interactive training, Krishan gained the confidence to step out of his comfort zone and join the Sales Team.

Since joining the Sales Team, Krishan has developed his communication skills and even brought in big clients from car showrooms.

The Kickstart scheme has had a positive impact on his personal life too. Initially, Krishan expressed his anxiety towards using public transport and would often rely on family members or uber’s to avoid talking to new people. But now Krishan has gained the confidence to use public transport regularly.

Fast forward to now, if you ask Krishan ‘where he sees himself in five years,’ he’ll happily tell you that he wants to be a chartered accountant and a property owner.

Krishan said: “This is my first job opportunity. I have been struggling to find a job for a while and I'm so grateful that Khurram took a chance on me.”

Krishan gained experience stacking shelves in his sister's corner shop but says the Kickstart scheme landed him his first office job.

But not only that, Krishan has now gained the courage to sing in front of the office during team-building exercises and effectively communicate with members of staff from all departments.

It’s onwards and upward for Krishan, he said: “I enjoy working at CCTV Focus. It's changed my life for the better.

"I have worked in Finance here, and I feel like I have the skills to be an accountant, I am looking into completing my level two and three accounting courses."
